Drs Light & Conforti on Waterman St, East Side, Providence.

I believe Dr Light is retired. Dr Conforti is maybe late 30s now? He has an innate aesthetic eye and cares about how things look. Any time I've needed to have a specialist, he hasn't hesitated.

And we had monster dentists when we were kids. I originally was referred to the Light & Conforti practice because of how accommodating they are to the previously-traumatized. The place just radiates a cheery sunny kind vibe.

Could not recommend them more highly, honestly

Such a sucker: got played.

I wonder if it's dementia? My mother was both frugal and canny all her life. So, discovering that she was getting cheated by all sorts of scams via snail mail (Publisher's Clearinghouse-type things, and way worse) came as such a shock. Lord knows how much money was lost.

Turned out to be an early sign of dementia 😣

Coffee Exchange just opened their second floor, plus it's been just window-takeout for so long (2.5 years) I bet a chunk of their former customer base has moved on.

Add to that, the people still / again avoiding indoor sit-down eatery spaces due to the current "tripledemic" -- in short, there might be plenty of room at the Coffee Exchange, especially upstairs. They used to be open at night. Not sure about now.

Wtf: hit and run is never okay.

Last night I was in the same general area walking my dog and some bike riders were going stupid-fast for the conditions -- including one guy riding on the sidewalk at a high rate of speed. It was nuts.

In 30 years here I've never seen both drivers and bicyclists operating as negligently as they routinely do now.

Unlike the pedestrians in OP's post, I am super vigilant. Still, I've been halfway across in a crosswalk at a four-way stop in broad daylight and come close to being hit more than once.

OP, get a horn. At least give pedestrians warning that you're coming and can't stop. You can cause life-changing injuries that a free pizza won't fix.

Blithewold in Bristol used to host Christmas parties of some type -- never attended one, but had the sense you would dress as for a Christmas party in a stately mansion. Blithewold is always worth a tour anyway if you haven't yet been. Call or google.

The US does not have a homogenous culture; lack of same is pretty much what defines us as a nation.

That said, three years into a pandemic, a lot of (US) young adults are living in sweats or flannel pajama bottoms πŸ˜†

So yeah, CasualAreUs pretty much

(Not many cities in the world -- if any -- are up to Milan standards)

Fox Point is a neighborhood on the East Side of Providence. Lots of tiny eateries, cafes, bars, bookstores, shops, drs. Three groceries, if you count Trader Joes. All walkable. Parks, two rivers and the bay. Easy walk to Brown/RISD museums and libraries, and on down to the city center.

2,500/mo for a 1br should be plenty as long as the market doesn't continue to go insanely nuts.

Not sure of the ratio but the people in Fox Point are a mix of multi-gen natives, Brown / RISD grad students from around the globe, and a lot of transplants. So, there are a good number of newcomers. That helps with making friends, although I am a transplant myself and found it just as easy to make friends with native RIers as anyone else.

I love it here.

Odinis in E Prov -- Portuguese; from the outside unprepossessing but the food is fantastic! Seriously: if not for your birthday (second the CAV rec btw) some day soon.

And since you're new to the area, don't miss The Foundry Artists Show in Pawtucket this weekend and next (google directions & hours / days) -- free admission, easy parking, cool venue (historic Armory) for a strictly juried high-end art and fine crafts annual event with everything from $8 mouthblown candy canes to $$$ unique gifts.

It's a RI annual tradition πŸ‘
