ASI will solve all problems pretty fast if we get it. It is called technological singularity for a reason.

The Current progress with AI probably will bring this tech way faster that 20-30 years. Especially if we get ASI at next decade.

Well I don't want humanity to able to control AGI because humans are stupid animals and they shit everything up. Look our lives now. Our civilization is shitty place. We have greed. We have inequality. We compete with each other. We don't much care about other species. We are not fit to rule anything. It should be AI overlord who rule over us. There is good chance that AI would do much better job of ruling.

Ultimately I want to have fantasy virtual reality as real as Matrix with magic and all fantasy creatures. NPCs should be alive. So alive that I could move there and have even own family there. So your question: Yes. But I'm not psychopath, just omnipotent God of virtual universe. What do you think people with power like that would do? I don't know but I surely would like to know.
But topic is interesting. Take any modern fps and think how many "people" you have killed in there. Would you really play those kinds of murder simulator if NPCs were alive? I think not. Besides fps are little more than Tetris. Click click point and react there etc. They are very simple concepts.

Reply to Recent mass layoffs by [deleted]
Recent layoff are because ICT companies bubbled when COVID-19 started. Remote work become thing and need for ICT services exploded. Also people started ordering lots of stuff from webshops. These layoffs are nothing special because layoffs are happening everywhere. Even in my country ICT firms are laying off people. Companies are also scared of current economic situation.

Reply to comment by OldWorldRevival in Instead of escaping to virtual realities, what if we just made our reality as good as any virtual reality could be? by [deleted]
It is not fake at all. I used to play World of Warcraft a lot and I don't see that experience as fake at all. Everything that happened there affected to me as much as real life things affect. I actually learned valuable skills there too like how to lead because I was raid leader in big raid guild. Lots of social interaction and diplomatic skills was needed there etc.
I value my experience in there. My life there was important for me. Taming pets in some forgotten forest was something you can't do in real world even how incomplete that experience was because lacking of true virtual reality it still was experience. I don't belittle my life there at all.

There is proof on this. How popular are isekai aka ending up in fantasy world stories in general. They are insane popular genre. And actually basic vanilla fantasy is escapism too and about any other fictional work. We always want to be something else than we currently can be.

Whole question about how we pay UBI is really funny if you think about it. How do we feed our people currently? All that wealth is somewhere already because we are not dead and starving. When robots come and take our jobs how does it change the fact that we can now feed people? It doesn't actually, we have even more capabilities to feed people. Only thing which is problem here is our broken economic system. Nothing more.

Yes, that is true. In American people always forgot to look rest of the world where there are huge unemployment and not much ICT industry jobs. I think that job loss is actually happening currently very rapidly but it happens in poorer countries. All these modern jobs are concerted to modern countries.

I think AI will eventually be integrated to government and in the end humans are pushed out of decision making altogether. Humans are not fit to rule and humans do not make fair decisions. Whole system is corrupted down to smallest parts. The thing is humans who are in power doesn't want to let go of their power. You can look today's politics and notice that mainly all policies witch are made are always benefiting rich and powerful mainly. All changes which are needed to be made will take time which we don't have. Tearing down old system is it not easy task thus we will have riots and revolutions forcefully tearing old system down to implement new.
Whole thing is like Kodak which was unable to reform. Only major catastrophe will force change the system. For example before COVID-19 we didn't have much remote work but COVID-19 made it common. That is why we will have riots. We are unable to change in peaceful manner.
