Let me ask it this way. What can the real world offer that virtual can't? There is only one thing what real world can do that virtual can't and that is the true death. Everything else can be done better in virtual world. There are infinite amount of things which can be done virtual but not in real world.

You are right and that is why stories has ups and downs. I also want my fantasy VR stories to contain that all. You see reality is really boring. Our current era is shit and future even with robot doing all the work there is no meaning but in story adventure there one can find meaning.

One could say that having family is meaning but one can have loving family in VR too.

Sorry our reality can't be as good as virtual reality. You can't be a God/Goddess in our world. You can't say magic words and throw fireballs. You can't have adventures to dungeons and kill goblins. There are no dragons here, elves nor orcs. There are no task to defeat Demon lord nor are there harems for heroes. Our world is antithesis of fantasy word. I want to live in fantasy world.

Without him electronic cars wouldn't be what they are. Without him we wouldn't have reusable rockets and new space boom. He is person who kicked the hornets nest and made everyone move. He is only person who might really have change to realize Mars outpost. He is greatest person of our time. Personally I dislike him but we need persons like him. Most historic figures have been assholes. That is how world works. You have to be different than masses to make anything happen.

Our current economic and social system is nothing permanent. It is system which will change in times. Technology is driving force which changes everything. If future is communism because techonlogy doesn't allow any other system exists so be it.

I find it really interesting that the groundbreaking thing here wasn't DALLe or any corporate owned image AI but open source product. We should remember this and start to question how much patents and ownership really hinder our progress. For example 3D printers has basically stuck in time for 5 years and no notable progress has happened because big corporations are gatekeeping patents.

I understand fully artists' perspective to this problem and I say that they have to start demanding changes in society. Whining about AI taking jobs doesn't help at all. They should not attack against AI but to society which have build around concept of work.

I think historically it will be remembered when AI starts to make impact for general populace. Random street people has not even heard about these advances which we have today. History always remembers big happenings so I would say the moment general populace start to really losing jobs will be the year which will be remembered. It might be some big catastrophe/event related to AI which marks the moment. Something which causes shock to whole world. Something like collapse of soviet union, 11/9, 2008 financial crisis etc. It has to be something big.
