US law requires them to issue full refund if that’s what you prefer. It was good they gave you the vouchers though- that was extra.

As an fyi whenever originating or landing in a US airport they must also follow US regulations. Got a full refund from VA for March 2020 cancelled flights- first waited like 120 days or something then ran out of patience. They were trying to give me vouchers (permissible under EU regs) but US requires cash option. I pointed this out to them and they got all cheeky and so I prepped a US FAA complaint form and sent it to VA’s corporate office (along with the text of the regulation they were violating and penalties, as well as screenshots of all the customer service texts etc) asking how they’d prefer to handle it. Full refund 48 hours later.

This happens every few years. I remember in 2012 Presidents’ Day weekend was 80 degrees. It’s an unusual weather pattern.
Climate change is real but this makes as much sense as when my uncle complains about having to “shovel all this global warming off my driveway”

So give them vaccines. What’s the problem. (Also this is standard vaccines- not Covid-19. There was a chickenpox outbreak)

They don’t have ESB at all and 1 WTC is listed but I’ve never seen it actually active (which it’s been that way for years).
Participating: 1 Bryant Park, 151 west 42 (H&M), Sven, and 1 WTC and WTC podium (marked as inactive).

The view from the bar at Manhatta is especially great for this. Sometimes I get bored at work and play with them too while on calls

New Farmers Almanac says this mild and rainy weather will last all season. We’ll see which is right I suppose.

Totally fine to offer a tissue or say “you ok?” Or “do you need help?” As long as you respect their response (actually be willing to offer help, avoid reacting negatively if they snap at you, or immediately disengage if no response at all).

That’s awful. I worked in a jail once (as a medic) and the men COs were much much worse than the women COs. But that was 20 years ago now

Don’t know. Just what my daughter told me when I asked her why she was allowed to submit assignments in all lower case letters with no marks off for spelling, grammar or punctuation

Great rebuttal. Other teachers in this thread have also pointed to years of balanced literacy as the culprit

None of that has anything to do with literacy advocacy and while most of those grifters have moved onto to vile anti-trans and crt, she’s pivoted right back to literacy. I honestly think she was critical of school closures and got stuck aligning with people she’d ordinarily not because the issue was so polarized.

It makes me mad they take actual issues and politicize them so badly. Makes it harder for nuanced discussion.
Enjoy the weekend and holiday!

Oh I totally believe it- I volunteer with a family literacy organization and have kids identify sounds and blend them to read words and they make progress pretty quickly, and the parents too are incredibly grateful as they also struggle with reading (the point of the group) and balanced literacy prevents them from helping at home and progressing together. I’m really grateful for NYC teachers- my daughter’s public school middle school teachers here were so excellent and so thank you and your colleagues. Hopefully this recent attention on the issue will right the ship and result in an improvement in experience for students and teachers.
