Did you go here? I was able to reserve a ticket to a show on Christmas. The day before I realized I would be too tired so I released it and received a personal email thanking me for doing so. My sister used to take my kids to those shows throughout the years so they are legit, but I never went.
Maybe if you create an account here that would help. I’m definitely going to try again and actually go this time.

Washington.org has a list of things to do. You can also find things to do this weekend and things to do this week. Many of the events listed are free.

The Millennium Stage at the Kennedy Center offers a free performance most days of the year. Reserve tickets online.

Exactly. If nothing else, OP would be able to find it in the bushes after the kids finish their joy ride. There are ways to hide air tags on a bicycle, and I suppose also on a scooter.

You’re a brave soul. I can’t read it without my eyes glazing over, and I used to work as a backstage dresser (costumes) in a professional theater that did mostly Shakespeare, so I’ve listened to some of the plays dozens and dozens of times because the theater plays them over the PA system for actors waiting for their cues in the Green Room. And my bf at the time was one of the lead actors, and would recite long passages to me, and me getting just a glimmer of sense despite my college degrees.
Why not start at a very simple level and read Sparks notes, or retelling for younger people, or other summaries so you will be familiar with what the heck is going on, and then gradually read passages in the actual plays. There are also free online classes, like these at Coursera that would help you understand his work.
It’s not just that the language is archaic, or that about 1,700 of the words he used were his own creation—it’s also pertinent that the stories he was retelling were already familiar to his audience, but are less familiar today. (Source that he was, with few exceptions, retelling old tales here.)

My mom gave that to my son when he was 8 or 9 so he would learn the “real” story and not the Disney version. I read it aloud to him, but I had to keep reading ahead then rewording around or skipping over the really scary parts. It is definitely not a children’s book.

Agora used to call itself Lebanese—Turkish, but now I see they just say “Mediterranean.” Check out their menu, though—they might have something that says “home” to you.

Sign up on the VolunteerMatch.org website, indicate your interests and abilities, and you can see opportunities listed. The site will also send you an email from time to time with opportunities that might interest you. I have been using that site for maybe 10 years and have helped for short one-day or just a few hours, and have also signed on for longer commitments.

Reply to Is it safe to drive on Christmas day? by [deleted]
If the forecasts are accurate temps won’t get above freezing Saturday or Sunday:
-
Sat 24 — High 22°/Low 13°, Mostly Sunny, W 14 mph
-
Sun 25 — High 28°/Low 15°, Sunny, W 12 mph
If so, it could be slippery out even with the sun. If you’re not used to driving in winter, you might be better off using a bus (professional driver is the key) or the train.

Take a look at the (free) CityMapper app. It gives a rough idea of times station to station. I plugged in Eastern Mkt to IAD at 7 Tuesday morning and got 83 minutes. I find the estimates are often conservative and I get there faster, but I would budget at least 83 minutes to be safe.

I went to Janney Elementary briefly for the end of sixth grade (after 3 months in England and 3 months in New Jersey), and they were super welcoming to the new girl with the weird accent, and it seemed like a great school. I’m happy to report it is ranked #2 elementary school in DC. It feeds into Deal JH and then Wilson HS, and they’re all in/near Tenleytown, and close to metro.

And The Traveling Gnome game actually started in the 1970s. History of Garden Gnomes
> The “Traveling gnome” is a game that dates back to the 1970s. It started when one traveler photographed two of his gnomes during his travel around Antarctica.
>It became widely popular during the 1990s, when a community in France named the Garden Gnome Liberation Front made a prank out of it, stealing gnomes and taking them traveling.
>The concept was to give the gnomes freedom they were believed to want.
>Thieves usually sent photographs of the gnomes to the owners, showing them that their minions were safe and sound, in their newly gained freedom and independence. This community dedicated itself to the purpose of “freeing garden gnomes.”
