Before we get to an AGI, we'll see a huge increase in drug development, medical advancements, disease prevention, and the extension of human life.
I'd also expect a similar trajectory for technology and innovation in general (ie. housing, construction, transport, energy, communication, quantum computation, etc).
If ai can speed up the process of solving the energy crises and resolving resource issues (food, water, pollution, global warming), it'll continue to accelerate right up until the first AGI.
Of course, if automated weapons tech gets away from us, we may never reach AGI.
