The problem is that people sue the cops even when the cops did everything they were trained to do. And sometimes they win. So you can’t fire your employee for following orders.

For example, the lady that refused to wear a mask in the subway system, was asked to leave, refused, put her hands on cops and they arrested her in front of her child. She’s suing for TEN MILLION DOLLARS. And obviously there’s a lawyer out there that think she has a case and trying to get a million dollar payday for himself vs a city employed lawyer maybe making 100k win or lose.

Except your whole argument falls apart because crimes in the subway went down significantly after the mayor/governor flooded the subway system with cops.

If there’s no cars ahead of me and my light is green, I usually drive about halfway through the intersection with my left blinker on and either traffic will clear and you turn, or the moment the light turns red and traffic stops you can quickly make your turn before the thru traffic gets the green.

The next line is even more ridiculous.

“In contrast, police made just 631 arrests for second-degree criminal possession of a loaded weapon, accounting for about 4% of arrests.”

JUST 631?? That’s like 2 guns a day for the whole year! That seems like a hell of a lot to me from just traffic stops.

And that event was followed by a decade of litigation, people losing their jobs, and multi million dollar payouts from the city. Not saying this is justice to make up for that atrocity by any means. But do you think any of this is happening in actual police states?

We literally do not. We live in one of the most liberal cities in America. People leave police states to come live here. I’m not saying this situation in the article isn’t shady af, but calling nyc a police state is just as hyperbolic as the Post calling it a crime-ridden wasteland.
