Since this has gone in traffic has been absolute horeshit. Who the fuck thought this was a good idea to start one biggest travel week of the year... oh yeah the drunk uncle that runs RIDOT planning.
Mass/Boston put all construction projects that would be impacting to drivers at the end of last week lasting through the holiday weekend... Rhode Island said hey.... hold my beer.

There is an handful of threads about the owner being abrupt to a point of rude with customers, doxxed people that left bad reviews, a lot of stories from former employees about Little Sister and Rebelle, blaming everything but the shortcomings of the stores and just general questionable behaviour. Worth a read.

Seven stars actually has good hours. They are open until 6pm I believe. I do enjoy it that they are open and usually have product in the afternoon/evening.
I can't understand why all these places close so damn early.

I had heard stories, again with a grain of salt, that the hours sucked, couldn't get full 40 hour week and pay was not all it was cracked up to be, management wasn't very helpful etc all the highlights.

Never been, but after all the stories I have read I don't think I ever will.
Looks like Oak will also have limited hours/days, because no one wants baked goods or coffee after 2pm.

This. Not to mention they create a huge mess around the shop. From the people that go there that don't know how to park/don't park in a crosswalk to the amount of garbage left around the shop itself as they refuse to provide a garbage can. When they do a donut/donut hole with one of those pipettes they are littered around up and down Wickenden and Ives. They also refuse to clear the sidewalks during snowstorms except for a small spot in front of their door.

I think Little Sister has more to worry about than Seven Stars honestly. So long as they can not be batshit crazy they should be fine lol.

I don't know that they are related in anyway. This is the 2nd shop from the owners of PVDonuts. I could be wrong though.

I completely agree. It was all about a manufactured line and hype that you could get a rice krispee treat on a donut... oh my how novel lol.
Looks like their prices are really high already. $22 for a Babka, like 7 or 8 bucks for a sticky bun and that is just what I could read on the pic. I know people are gonna throw in well Seven Stars is pricy too, and yes I agree, but their quality is there and it is always consistent.

I really don't think Seven Stars has much to worry about with Oak opening. Especially since they are going to have what looks like a much smaller selection and prices that are equal to or higher than Seven Stars.

Do you expect anything less from the PVDonuts folks?
Mind you I do not mind paying for quality, I will gladly throw down $4 for the Kouign-amann at Seven Stars. Or the Macaroons at Madrid, but I for see the quality of Oak going the way of PVDonuts, where it drops off after the initial hype and they start having to actually produce product. I know the donut shop has had a big problem with staff over the years.

Ownership is the same, but the quality is very much different. The quality has gone down, everything tastes greasy and just overloaded with too much sweetness. They are all about flash and less about the quality.
The whole reason they said they were running out/limited quantities in a day was to keep the quality up, this obviously has gone out the window. I see less and less people going there.
Knead is the way to go, this is just my opinion and your mileage may vary!

Completely agree. I have lived here for 15 years. The traffic in that area has gotten significantly worse over the past few years, the first year or so of the pandemic reduced the traffic but it is back with a vengence. The endless construction has only made it worse. There are going to be so many accidents coming in and out of that lot and that is just gonna cause back ups all over the place, not to mention the increased vehicle traffic for the first year this location is open.
I keep reading that is gonna be for pedestrians and residents of the area but that will not be the case for the honeymoon phase of this store being here.
I am all for a trader Joes or an Aldis, or any option in the area, that specific spot is just not ideal, and I think a lot of the traffic studies were done during the pandemic, and before other changes were made to the traffic patterns in that area and are not inclusive of real usage.
Edited to add. - just looked at a traffic study done on 2/2021 and again on 5/2022 showed an increase of from 6000 vehicles a day to 8500. That wasn't the study that was done before zoning. Just a study.

Love how all the people that are saying traffic isn't that bad over here, or that its only bad at x time obviously haven't spent that much time in the area, especially since the construction projects have ramped up lately. It is horrible, especially with the amount of people that have no clue how to drive in the city, and do not know how to share the road with pedestrians and cyclists. I avoid going that direction as much as possible.

There is a good portion of the state that Verizon doesn't cover. Basically outside of the "95 corridor" their service starts becoming harder to come by. So Cox does kind of rule the roost, though the East Bay does have an option.

There is a lot of money for upgrades and expansion of competition in the internet service space. Rhode Island alone is getting $100 million in Federal funds to build up the internet infrastructure with the passage of the infratructure bill.

Moving everyone off the older DOCSIS 3.0 modems and to the newer 3.1 and 4.0(only in test labs at the moment) modems providers (Cox and i3broadband) will allow for higher upload speeds as they are able to reclaim signal by using the more efficient OFDM channels for traffic. It is a limitation of RF networks that have to be reworked and that takes time and money.
Some providers are upgrading the modems at no cost actually giving a free rental modem to get people off the older modems. It is hard to get people to upgrade their technology because they don't understand that their "brand new"(9 years old) modem is very out of date and 8 docsis channels just doesn't cut it and they are dragging down the rest of the herd.
The majority of people don't need to worry about upload speeds, yes there are some people that need higher upload speeds but most people won't notice a difference. Yeah its great to see symetrical up and down but the majority of people need more down than up.
You would be surprised how little bandwidth people use in a day. Streaming 4k video can be done with as little as 15mbps and yes as you add more devices youll need more bandwidth, but simply dropping down to 1080p and 6 will do you just fine most times.
Higher speeds are coming but it takes time to do things like mid band and high band splits as well as for the technology to catch up.

Yes but it is the majority of traffic in and around the area. 95% of all activity, commuting and shopping is done by car.
Especially in cases of grocery shopping I don't think you are going to be seeing many people coming in from the surrounding areas like East Providence, Seekonk, Pawtucket, Johnston, Cranston by bike to visit this market. This is going to be a very hard place for people walking, biking or busing to get to when this first opens and for the foreseeable future for the amount of people that will be coming here from outside the city.

Yesterday morning... hours after the accident was cleared the traffic was backed up well into Swansea. Causing an hour long+ ride.
Combine this with all the stuff they see doing on 95 near the mall and the clusterfuck that is 146 and 6/10 every artery connected to Providence has a massive project going on. As well as changes to every alternate route. Can't avoid 195 properly as they have closed a small bridge that cuts off the only viable alternate route. This 195 project should have been worked on at the same time as the overpasses were being done. Instead they fucked up traffic for two years, let it be for six months then started working in the same area again.
Someone needs to start reviewing what is going on.
Edited to add: there is also major construction going on over on the red bridge as well.
