Agreed. I ride Paoli-Thorndale twice a day for work, and I like coming into the city on the weekends to visit friends, spend my money, etc. I wish Septa would make it easier to return home instead of making it feel like I have a curfew. Missing a train and needing to wait at least an hour, or missing the last train and needing to use a costlier option like Lyft, stinks.

You can go up just for the bar, and technically you can go up the escalator and have great views (to the west/northwest) in the area before the restaurant itself for free

After the Liberty Place observation deck closed, I now figure the cost of a drink at JG is like the cost of a ticket at Liberty

As a filthy suburbanite who works facing city hall 5x/week, I like it. Money’s clearly the answer. And if I can keep enjoying DiBruno Bros and other spots out here in the ‘burbs without needing to come into Center City on my non-work day, that’s nice.

Wouldn’t mind a Dig out here, though, I prefer it over Honeygrow/SweetGreen/HipCity/etc. I’m obviously biased, but I’d rather have loved/respected stores make the business decision to set up shop on the outskirts of the city than have them go out of business completely staying exclusively within the city.

Not really, I was put under for the procedure itself and the recovery time wasn’t bad. had some strong aches for about 48 hours afterwards. The other method, donating peripheral blood stem cells or PBSC, has a week of daily shots of filgrastim that make your body sore leading up to the donation day but the recovery time is typically quicker.

You’ll understandably get a lot of anecdotes, but it was solid for me. First full year of marriage after a covid-delayed wedding, got a promotion, made a more concerted effort to make/keep friendships in my 30s, started learning how to play bass, began life-changing treatment for a severe sleep apnea diagnosis, donated marrow to someone with leukemia who’s still alive…it wasn’t bad.

All of these suggestions are great. If you’re willing to venture a bit into the Main Line, Showcase Comics is a 3 min walk from the Bryn Mawr regional rail stop and they have a huge collection of back issues as well as a well curated collection of trades.
