Baloney, please point out exactly where I said that above. In fact I am saying that companies abuse h1-b limitations to raise performance requirements to unethical levels and term that 'meritocracy'
>This has nothing to do with immigration
The threat of being uprooted with your family and forced to leave the country is a very real thing which is the whole point of the article, duh. It has *everything* to do with immigration.

expecting everyone who works at the company to devote their entire life to work musk-style is not a really a 'meritocracy' but just exploitation

the problem is tech companies feel free to abuse their h1b workers with absurd work requirements because their alternatives are limited, and the detrimental effects spill over to their domestic co-workers as well

The technical term for someone unaffected by 200k deaths they personally ordered is "sociopath."

I'm fully aware of all the arguments for and against deploying the atomic bomb in Aug 1945 exactly as was done, but putting that aside, the fact that Truman was completely personally unaffected by all the civilian lives that were annihilated is fairly despicable.

No I completely got your point, it just happens to be wrong.
There have *always* been boundaries on public discourse for good reason (people die) and pretending like there never have been is not helpful.

History has also taught us that hate speech gets lots of people killed and can turn elections and put itself into power.

this is actually the real answer. there are plenty of people for whom those abandoned structures and villages would be an upgrade over where they are now.

'low performer' is always relative to the bar mgmt sets. if mgmt sets it insanely high so only people checking work status 13 hours a day and doing work at 2am Sunday get good ratings and everyone else is told they need to 'improve', the problem is mgmt and not the workers.
