Unless they’re maybe Christian Scientists, this “religious exemption” is bullshit. Even then, it doesn’t matter. You can’t have that job and not follow public health mandates; no accommodation is reasonable, and your beliefs don’t beat societal needs.

Most of these “religious exemptions” go like: I believe in Jesus; I believe in Republicans; I believe vaccines are a Democrat thing; so my religion says I don’t have to take the vaccine.

Fuck you. Get another job.

By virtue of the original post and the disagreement in the comment thread, I think we see that the sign is not clear. Many people think it is a total ban on parking except that you can pickup/drop off for 15 minutes during the day. Other people think it means parking is always allowed, except it is limited to 15 minutes for pickup/drop off during the day. I am in the latter camp, by analogy to the commercial and valet zone signs found around the city.

About the thin blue line sticker? You may disagree, but there’s nothing ignorant about my statement or my position. I spent decades in law enforcement. I know what the line is. I’ve lost friends.

The symbol used to stand as a mark of respect for fallen officers, as an expression of support for our brethren, as a way of recognizing the critical role police officers play in keeping the forces of evil at bay. But not anymore it doesn’t.

After the Black Lives Matter protests, the blue line sticker became an anti-BLM sticker. It has been utterly co-opted by people who would like to say black lives don’t matter, but use this symbol instead. Yes, I know cops who still have the stickers. But I also know cops who’ve taken them off.

The thin blue line sticker has been completely taken over by white supremacists. No one sees it and thinks they should support police. They see it and think the driver is a racist.

Feel free to disagree, but I stand by what I wrote. And it doesn’t come from a position of ignorance.

The one on the left will arrive late to every party. The one in the middle will never go to the correct party. The one on the right will get to the party, but only by taking a bus for the middle part of the trip.

Under Comm v. Riley, the police may stop any car with a red R inspection, because there is no other way for them to know if the safety problem was addressed. The stop could lead to a citation and a tow. (But, seriously, everyone, don’t drive on failed tires. It puts everyone at risk.)
