To quote that link “While you can’t charge more than a month’s rent in a security deposit, the law does not appear to prohibit a pet premium, or an increase in your rent to cover the pet(s) and any damage.
We have been experimenting with a $35 per month pet premium”
As a landlord I’m not going to rely on an experiment but instead follow the law (which does in fact state a limit on the amount of money I can ask from a tenant). That’s not statute that’s an experiment.

Pet rent isn’t legal. Where are you seeing it is? Security deposits are limited to the equivalent of one months rent and no more so there can’t be extra money as a deposit when signing a lease. I’m curious where you found that?
for pets.

Agree! I think this idea that we want our streets to look like suburban NJ with no overnight parking is ridiculous. Our entire street's population (except for us) has turned over completely save 2 properties since then. It makes no sense.

totally agree - letting residents opt out (67% i think was the amount of no's needed) and then not doing a regular "re"vote is ridiculous.

Likely but once you have the RI license it’s way easier to go to AAA.

Not all streets allow overnight parking. Check before you buy one.

If AAA does that kind of renewal go there. Way easier. They might only do in state stuff but it’s way better than the dmv. Also agreed why should another state care about what you did before? That’s standard operation procedure

Reply to Does anyone commute from Providence to Boston each day by train? We are seriously considering purchasing a home but we work at Mass General Hospital. Looking for people with experience to either talk us into it or talk us out of it. by [deleted]
Depends on how early you leave/ return. Any place on the CR is going to be crazy re house prices in MA so I won’t encourage you to do that. If you are on an off schedule can you drive? I know plenty of people who commute. More than you might think. It’s very common.

Check craigslist too. Many landord-owned places don't use realtors (since the landlord pays the fee in RI vs the buyer like they do in NYC). But it also means you can use a realtor here fee free for rentals!

No. They can’t. I’m taking specifically about security deposits/ it’s spelled out.
