Honestly college applications are awful at measuring anything other than "willingness to play someone's stupid mind games"...which actually fits in pretty well with job applications too

This was me for all of high school. It was always "go go go pack your college resume or you'll end up in a shit college". Then I actually got to college and was so exhausted and burnt out on life that I almost failed my first year. Obviously I'm doing this whole bootstraps thing all wrong.

I'm an intelligent person with a successful career despite massive PTSD. At the same time, I know I would have had so much more potential if I wasn't spending half of my energy every day fighting with mental illness.

I always get dreams where I'm back in high school except it turned into a labyrinth and I can't find my classroom, and then when I finally get there I realize that I was naked the whole time and all my classmates are laughing at me. It definitely does not count as restful sleep.

You might need to try different antidepressants. I'm currently taking a combination of #11 and #13 that I tried and it's working great, but it does take a stupid amount of persistence

I understand that it's that way from you, but there are definitely people who exhibit toxic positivity in a really nasty way and also people who have been subjected to that enough to be sensitive about it.

I've never had anyone get upset at me for asking which they want and I'd rather know than guess

I find it's best to ask someone if they're venting or looking for a solution. If they want to vent, you listen to them and sympathetically agree with them until they're ready to be done and feel better. If they want a solution then you give them your solution.

Yeah, what does this mean for people who survived but were permanently injured? "Survival" is a terrible measurement of success.

Actually, a lot of artists use grids when they draw to help keep placement and proportion. The one who started with the bars will probably have a more accurate final painting.
