Grab and go downtown(ish) you’re looking at P&M, Nica’s or k&g all on orange st, the neighborhood cafe on State, B&M or Pan de Cielo 2 on Ferry, or the bagelry on Trumbull.

Edited to add either Good Nature Market (aka gourmet heaven) location.

You can hike to East Rock depending on how cold it is, there’s a ropes adventure course at Jordan’s Furniture, walk around Yale’s campus, the green usually hosts local vendors in igloos, the library might be holding some kid related events, pizza is always a kid friendly option, and maybe ice cream at arethusa/insomnia cookie/Ashley’s?

The story I heard was it’s popular in Caribbean cultures to keep birds and when there started to be an influx of people from those areas here in the 50s and 60s, they brought tropical birds with them. Some would inevitably get away and eventually they established self reproducing populations. They’ll often build nests around power transformers because they give off heat, so the power company has to occasionally take down the larger ones.

I’ve been yelled at for parking a cop car in areas marked no parking and I’ve also been yelled at for “taking up” marked spots in a cruiser.

Considering that parking is at a premium, especially downtown, I personally feel it’s better that city cars don’t take actual spots as long as they aren’t blocking traffic, crosswalks, etc.

Pretty accurate. I think it’s a combination of factors. It was never an easy job to bring with, but there’s been an increase in negative attitudes pervasive in society towards the police and a decrease in things like benefits.

Fewer people applying and and decreasing standards are in no one’s best interest.
