A core i9-13900K is going to set you back $600 + tax. A midrange graphics card is about $300. RAM is probably another $75 or so. That leaves us about $300 for Windows, storage, and a tiny motherboard. You know that motherboard is going to eat up more than the remainder. It's an interesting exercise.

It definitely says nothing about its popularity. What does say something about it is that no one I've ever met with a touchscreen laptop has ever said anything positive about the touchscreen.

People have been saying that about growing cell phone sizes. "This phone is huge. It can't possibly get any bigger, no one would want it". Then someone comes out with a larger phone and it sells better than the last largest phone.

Companies offering it as an option doesn't really say anything about popularity just ease of production.

Isn't that what r/Gadgets basically is? Did you complain about the Nova earrings, the Walkman, the Google TV remote, the Razer soundbar, the XGIMI lamp, the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, the Intel, or the Galaxy S23 posts? Those are all in the hot 25 posts right now and basically ads.

I spotted an anti-fanboy over at r/Space in an SLS post. It was a perfectly fine comment about how SpaceX is pushing rockets forward faster than SLS but he started it off with his opinion about Musk. No one fucking cares about how you feel about the guy and that has nothing to do with what everyone was talking about.
