I was in Atlantic Heights and it was $1700 for 2 bedroom, 600 SQ ft.
I moved just before covid hit

My fiancee works there and we used to rent in Portsmouth until a couple years ago.
We bought our home in a different town and she commutes now.

It's great, it's just an adjustment!
NH is awesome. I do recommend picking up an outdoor hobby for every season.

99% of the population will not even talk to you unless you engage first, so you can completely ignore all of his political gibberish.
Outside of reddit you'll very rarely hear anything at all to do with politics.
That being said, he's trying to gaslight you with the Libertarian schpiel. They're a VERY small portion of the state.

Have you lived in the north before?
Seasonal depression hits people used to a lot of sun pretty hard, look up ways to keep your vitamin D up.
Cold will be an adjustment in the winter. Being cold once or twice is different than it always being cold for months.
In the winter it gets light at like 7 and dark at like 5.
Not trying to scare you away, I just like to provide the negatives because people don't need to be armed for the positives lol

I'm not them, but it's always wind scraped every time I go. It's gotten to the point that I just don't even try anymore.
I'd rather hit Loon or spend the extra time to go to VT or ME than touch Wildcat

I've been skiing in New England for 26 years.
I've heard that Pat's Peak is open. I don't like Wildcat. It tends to get blown raw and turn into boilerplate.
I've got the IKON.
I've heard that VT should have a very snowy winter but I've learned to take that with a grain of salt.
I think Loon is 2 hours away from UNH? Dunno if they're open. I don't know your skill level, but if you go past the kanc8 or whatever they call it and go to the beginner slope in front of the restaurant there's a chair that services greens and a blue that's wide and quick, sometimes it's just worth skiing the same trail over and over depending on the lift lines.

740 a month for utilities should probably be fine unless it leaks heat like a sieve. Check for internet availability. T Mobile does cellular internet in a pinch.
Heat and electricity are high right now. You paid cash so I assume you have no mortgage, that's huge.
Someone else also mentioned opportunity cost. Also gotta realize NH is way slower in terms of living vs MA.
Making friends can be hard, but if you're from NE already you probably know that.
Not trying to scare you away or anything, just things to consider.

I'm pro legalizing weed but I agree that people should take driving stoned just as seriously as driving drunk.
Driving tired is another one we kind of just ignore, too.
