What's crazy is that I was a fan of Nick when he was my council person. Reached out to his office twice and both times he was super responsive. Not sure what changed.

I reached out to James Torrence's office once this year and spoke to someone for 10 minutes about traffic calming at a kids bus stop. I got ghosted.

Bet they'd appreciate a raise, bonus or a little extra PTO rather than having their recognition take the form of content generation in the form of a social media campaign on platform I doubt they ever use.

But hey, I'm sure the BM-DOT internet karma is important to them too.

Oooh! Question. What's with the "we buy diabetic supplies" operations? I assume it's arbitrage of some sort, but why does the market exist and is there enough juice to make the squeeze worthwhile?

I had a cop light me up on 83. I was between Cold Spring and Northern and so I went to Northern, exited 83 and pulled over where there was a nice big shoulder. Cop went ballistic on me accusing me of ignoring him.

I got off with a warning. So maybe he recognized I was looking out for his well being.

No! That would require walking to the nearest bush. The only prerequisite for ridding oneself of trash is the presence of gravity.

It's a thing that goes back years. My old ad agency actually did anti-littering commercials for the city back in the 90's. Clearly our persuasive powers were limited. Or those doing it are shitty citizens.

I think the guy's heart is in the right place. I recall him out there during the riots, right out in front, trying to bring it to a close. No matter how critical I am of his performance, my respect for him will remain for that act. As opposed to our then Mayor, SRB, who literally disappeared for hours. But I also think the Peter principle applies here, and that's a shame.

Right. But Baltimore problems are like regular problems with a surly disposition and a loaded firearm. I think the best thing that can be said about Hizzoner's Crime Plan is that shootings aren't getting worse. We settled out at what, like 1,100 shootings, 330 of which succeeded. I'm not a criminologist and don't have a plan. But if the best you can say is that you managed to keep one of the most murdery places in the country the same, I'd say you're fair game to get critiqued from the cheap seats and keyboard jockeys on reddit.
