It's not impossible, it's just the city / state tend to be really bad at doing things intelligently.

I mean, just because we do it poorly now doesn't mean we shouldn't still try and build more and improve the process.
That being said if I am reading the subtext of your comment properly, it's laughable when the fuck cars folks just say "just ride a bike" or "just improve infrastructure" as if those things are always easy or accessible to everyone.

You’re defending this guy who robbed lower income people of color by using slavery as an excuse? Don’t you see how twisted that is?

I mean at some point if things don’t get fixed I’d be surprised if the top mod could find anyone. They got rid of some of the most active mods because they didn’t want to share power and they want to treat folks like employees. It’s an incredibly untenable position and one that I doubt anyone would want to be involved in for too long.
But yeah you missed all the fun!!!

Yeah appreciate that, I'm definitely vocal of opinions, but tried to never let that effect my decisions and appreciated the folks of the sub, like yourself, for giving me grace to do that.
Couple mods (u/paratactical and u/majorfogtime, sorry for pinging you guys but I am talking about ya so felt the thing to do) were demodded, I thought they were good mods and asked the team to vote if we could bring them back, everyone who weighed in voted that they should be mods again(this represented the overwhelming majority of the mod team), within a few hours of bringing the old folks back I was demodded. To be fair I'd been relatively active in questioning some decisions in modmail recently without getting any response, so likely someone became tired of me being a thorn in their side as well.

I’d rather not, no disrespect. It’s a pretty specific question for a specific user involving a decent amount of backstory.

They leave out the race in all local crime stories. But you never see these comments when it’s a white perp. Geeze wonder why.

Never prohibitively expensive if the city / state owns the land, but I get your point.
Personally I think it’s best to have the housing throughout the city since folks in NYCHA work all over the city

Why shouldn’t there be NYCHA housing near Lincoln Center?

NBC news frequently leaves out the race when it’s a white dude too…. Never see anyone complain in those articles though. Wonder why.

I was muted just for asking a question in modmail. Is it the new policy that mods don’t have to be tolerant of others opinions that they don’t like? Should you update the seeking mods post to say “just don’t question leadership and you can be a mod / allowed to post here”?

Pretty much every time I am on Columbia I see some nut bag driving in the opposite lane of traffic to try and beat the logjam.

Out of curiosity why did reducing the lane dramatically increase traffic? Couldn’t you say induced demand is only true to a degree, as some people / professions / purposes require driving so there’s a minimum number of cars “necessary” at any given point?

Is it really less weight when cars are just parked on it basically all the time? I’m not physicist so have no clue, but I’m guessing the reduced lane makes up for the increased average duration of car there?

I dunno I’ve never looked into the issue that much, but it’s not too hard in most big ticket items, like stadium deals, affordable housing construction, public housing repairs etc, to find ways to do things cheaper and more efficiently without jeopardizing pay or safety standards.
I’m sure there’s a competent bureaucrat somewhere that no one is listening to grumbling about different ways to do things better around MTA construction and expansion.
