The point being I was more focused on getting home than taking down the cab number and info.

No, it was like 4:30 in the morning.
EDIT: …and so I wasn’t focused on trying to get this driver’s info.

It's almost worse seeing a cab in the outer boroughs because you just know they won't have any interest in taking you anywhere else. They're there either against their will, or beginning/ending their shift.
Good luck trying to get a cab from Williamsburg to go to Bed-Stuy.

I don't think Ubers see passenger information before accepting the ride so, it's harder to discriminate against race. They might see you're going to a typically minority neighborhood and decide not to take the trip, but the way yellow cabs will simply ignore minorities trying to flag them down is not quite the case.

Man, I remember one night I was out super late/early morning. Trains were garbage going back to Queens but completely worthless once I got to Queensboro Plaza; just not running to Ditmars at all.
I got out of the station and hopped into a cab on Crescent like a block up from the entrance into the 59 Street Bridge. "Going to XX in Astoria, please." You could tell dude was not happy with having to go back and miss the rush hour in Manhattan.
He basically ignored my request and proceeded to get onto the bridge. I told him to stop fucking around, let me out, and I had to walk alongside the on-ramp for the bridge and find another cab willing to take me to Astoria.

I’d agree with this. You can look at Queensboro Plaza and a lot of the buildings now there aren’t seen in this photo.

What parent has a choice of school? You go to the school you're districted to, and unless you specifically seek an exemption into a specialized, one of the selective schools, or pay additional money for a private education, you're being educated whichever school you're closest to.

Because it was vociferously protested against just a few years ago because it's public land and thus, should remain public for the benefit of the Mets not private for the benefit of the citizens of New York.

Factos. It's like calling it Broadway Ave. for the one in Manhattan. It's not "Broadway ____." It's just "Broad Way."
But I just wanted to poke fun at the weirdness of Brooklyn's street layout.

This is what I never understand about Brooklyn folks complaining about the 67th Roads-- it actually makes sense.
Like yeah, it's annoying because you think it's only 4 blocks away and turns out it's more. But 67th Road is in between 67th Avenue and 67th Drive. All 3 intersect with either boulevards or streets, not other roads, avenues, or drives.
So, if you ask someone "where is 67th Avenue in comparison to 68th Avenue" you'll get a simple answer: it's north. And how does that compare with 108th Street? They intersect.
Now, where is Utica Avenue in comparison with Snyder Avenue? They intersect. Oh, so avenue's and avenue's intersect? What about "Streets?" They also intersect... except when they don't.
To summarize: in Queens, numbers increase from north to south, east to west. So, 1st Street and 1st Avenue would exist in the NW (technically on Randall's Island) and 250th Street and 250th Avenue would exist in the SE (technically there are only 150 or so avenues but 230+ streets).
Queens can get confusing because you have like 5 competing grids and sometimes an avenue will end/begin where another much higher avenue exists. But using that as a comparison against Brooklyn is laughable. In BK, there's a grid in Greenpoint, another in Williamsburg, another south of Flushing Ave. but it's different than the one in Bushwick. Both of those are different than the Canarsie/East New York grid, while Ocean Avenue establishes another grid but somehow Marine Park gets a grid like Canarsie even though the Flatbush grid bisects them. That Ocean Ave grid only extends until MacDonald at which point the South Brooklyn grid begins but for some reason Fort Hamilton is it's own thing.

Not OP but I love that part of Brooklyn. Everything’s an avenue, except when it’s a street which may or may not be parallel to the avenue you’re already on.
And folks say Queens is confusing.

Whether they’re immature and/or people with no life experience, or not, it’s often just a lack of empathy.
The phrase “fuck _____” is just an overall disregard for whatever fits that blank. I’ll admit to using the phrase and then immediately saying “nah, actually, I don’t really mind _____. They just annoy me.” Or something to that effect.
So yeah, anyone that says “fuck cars,” “fuck landlord,” or whatever is simply choosing to not be empathetic.

There are plenty of reason that both state and city level officials would go on foreign trips. Studying and seeing how other cities develop solutions to similar problems is not a bad thing.
