Try the National Arboretum instead. Proper hanami is feasting with friends under the cherry blossoms. Though unlike Japan public drinking is banned here, so it's not quite the same.

The original MLK Library design is by Mies van der Rohe, so it's a great visit if you're into architecture. They did an excellent job on the redesign, updating it while keeping a Modernist look. I love the main stairwell.

Dangit! I forgot to pick up potatoes and onions, and I have zero intent to get out of my pajamas this weekend. Frozen Trader Joe's latkes will have to do, I suppose.

Seriously, people see anything engineered to meet a price point and complain about planned obsolescence. This is just basic cost engineering. People aren't willing to pay for bulletproof.
