Almost all landlords own houses under an llc. Are you saying there shouldn’t be any long term rentals in Vermont? Can you elaborate? I don’t understand

You’ll probably run into some roadblocks with the condition of houses in your 300k price range. Are you capable of renovating the house by yourself?
It’s really hard to find any tradesmen here that aren’t booked out for a year at least and they are hesitant to take on anything but the largest most lucrative projects.Things have been slowing down a little, but it is still much more expensive to have anything renovated here than in other parts of the country. Contractors are still giving “go away” price quotes as they have more business than they need

All trades are in desperate demand here but the pay rates seem to be much lower than in other parts of the country. Maybe an HVAC tech or electrician can chime in?

Wow you are super lucky to have a great situation on a seasonal place. Yes remote workers are still flocking here in droves- the OP you are responding to is a remote worker looking to move here

This is no longer true sadly. Post Covid it’s no longer a renters market and everyone wants to move here in the spring/summer time so every listing gets dozens and dozens of applications

Is there a place like this in Rutand? I seem to remember someone saying something about something similar in that area

You’ll need snow tires to get up to the mountain on powder days, unless you are fine waiting for them to plow. Tire socks might be an option but only at slow speeds

Trailers are notoriously hard to keep mice out of. Sorry you’re dealing with this. What reason do you have to believe your lease won’t be renewed?

Regarding your comments about “backhanded statements” and “gatekeeping” , VT is in the middle of a severe housing crisis where many locals are paying 30-50% of their income on housing or being forced out of the market altogether. This is causing a lot of fear and anxiety that people vent in their responses to questions like yours which are asked ad nauseam. It’s awesome that you are fortunate enough to own land here and are able to bankroll building a home at a time when so many are hurting. To be completely honest, your post and responses come across as a little tone deaf to what people here are experiencing and you may want to be more cognizant of it as you navigate here

Can’t say enough good things about Branon Family Maple. They sustainably manage their sugarbush and all their equipment is new so you don’t have to worry about lead contamination like many of the older smaller operations. They usually ship the next day and their customer service is amazing

TLDR: costs around $400 -$450 a square foot plus the cost of land and a 2+ year wait time. So even a relatively modest house can set you back over 500k.

All bars in vt legally have to sell food, even if it’s just bagged snacks

Vermont health code does not allow pets in any restaurant so its unlikely people will doxx the few places that bend the law by casually allowing it. The exception you are referring to is for common rooms in places like a schools or nursing homes

Tax unoccupied homes? Or all short and long term rental houses as well?
