This is exactly how I feel about it.

The reason why people gain weight, is because they are in a calorie surplus.

And another thing I see is, “they just eat too much sugar” or “too many carbs.” And yeah that may be the case for many people, but I also think it’s disingenuous - because people are overeating everything. not JUST sugar. People don’t just eat too much processed foods… they eat too much whole foods too.

But when we try to act like microbiome is the cause of obesity, or hormones are the cause of obesity, this and that, it really pisses me off because I don’t understand how people can look at the way we eat, and think it’s something else causing obesity.

This is what people believed back when it was first marketed to the public. It’s part of why it was so taboo, and it’s also why they introduced a placebo week, or a “mock” period. It’s because people were not welcoming to the idea of a drug that could stop all of that

Also, in many cultures, there is a lot of pseudo science or lore around periods, or this belief that periods release “toxins.” So to them, stopping your period could be seen as a bad thing

The reality is that all the pill is, is hormones. Your reproductive organs only produce an egg, or endometrial lining, or release the lining, in response to hormones. Birth control pills (monophasic pills, anyway) is just a combination of hormones that mimic a stage in your cycle where you won’t release an egg, won’t produce lining for a fertilized egg to stick to, cervical mucous won’t be welcoming to sperm. That’s all it’s doing, responding to hormones as it normally would

I don’t disagree that there should be more options for men, but it doesn’t “mess with” your hormones. This type of statement comes from the archaic idea that birth control is bad for us and damages our body, which is the same argument they made many decades ago (when they just didn’t want women having premarital sex… and also BC was a lot less safe back then)

Kinda have to be careful when talking about diets, and the topic of fertility. You could have two people with very different fertility circumstances, who would benefit from very different dietary changes… so I would proceed with caution with general advice of “this diet will help fertility.”

I can confirm part of this, in my last job I was a hotel manager and I could tell if you received and opened your confirmation email. I could even tell if you clicked where it had the latest cancellation date before receiving a penalty

This was a big deal during Covid, because we sent an e-mail with Covid policies and what was open. A lot of people complained in order to get a free stay, claiming that they were not told this/that. But I would see that they not received the email, and clicked on the email, and the date and time that they did.
