Craziest thing is at the very least that could be turned into housing.
A warehouse I worked at in NoLibs was converted to luxury condos in no time. Guess it’s harder to do if you’re not charging $3k to live there 🙄

There's usually somebody just sitting at the handicapped gate at Norristown to let people on the high speed line. Probably happens more than 2800 times in a year just there.

Pennsylvania never ceases to amaze me on how ass backwards it can be.
Was weird when I moved to Ohio that OSU was on par with the tuition for IUP. Meanwhile Temple for a 4 year undergrad program is pushing $90k, not counting housing of any sort.

We're almost at the point where it would be more beneficial to report on city agencies that are functioning correctly. Although we would haven't have much to read about honestly...

It’s such bs because, last I checked, the NHSL stops in Bryn Mawr. I must have missed all the gangs terrorizing Lancaster Ave.

It cost half a billion to build a tunnel under the Allegheny River and add a few stations. Total extension was just over a mile.
And this was in 2008. It would probably somehow cost a billion today.

You’d have to transfer at 69th St after transferring to the EL.

An extension of the Manayunk RR line would be a better use of those $$ than this.

Problem is the NHSL is not fast, and neither route is all that faster than a bus and certainly not faster than driving.
KOP to Center City with or without the extension is still going to take 60-90 minutes.

I was a proponent of this in a pre-COVID world where office parks didn’t look like they’d ever be phased out, as much as most wanted.
Now, I can see a lot of companies scaling down if they have outs in their lease, rendering huge suburban office parks useless. Couple that with more workers WFH and not having to commute to the city, and the strong chance that even KOP Mall will not be a thing someday, and there are much better uses for $4B in capital project funds.

The sooner we realize that most of us are idiots, the better. People need to be talked down to in order to understand policy, since we've been convinced that so much that doesn't work (privatized "insert public service") doesn't work long term.

The Flyers loss was the 1st win of the Islanders dynasty, and Game 6 was the Leon Stickle game (missed an offsides call).
The Sixers loss was the Magic Johnson game where he played center for an injured Kareem in the deciding game 6.

All 4 teams made it between 1979-81
Flyers lost the SC in 79-80 and Sixers lost in the Finals in 80-81

That was my point but the damn edgelords downvoting me from Lansdale & Springfield (or even from Northern Liberties or some college dorm) only want to burn the system, period. Nothing short of anarchy.
Guess who gets blamed when that shit happens? Won't be them...

True, and while I understand why riots happen (Detroit riots, LA in the 90s), the narrative of "insurance will cover it" or "oh big corporation, they'll be fine" is the worst justification and flies in the face of what MLK said about riots.
It's hard to find, but there are still areas of Minneapolis that either haven't rebuilt or are just shells of their former selves now 2 1/2 years later. I remember reading about most independent owners struggling to get permits just to raze the plot of land and having to go through bureaucracy either with the city or insurance companies to just start over.

And the damn unit was already disbanded. Hopefully the 5 of them get the book thrown at them.
It's also fucking cold & dreary out, and good luck getting anybody to go out of their way to riot in freezing temps. The only person who acts like people go out of their way to do something shitty in the cold is Jussie Smollett.

That's a damn lie. If a cop knows you have $$ (and we're talking old $$ not just in a nice car) you are teflon.
Poor white people get fucked up by the judicial system too, just like poor Chinese, poor Hispanic, etc. If you're poor and suspected of a crime, you're fucked. If you're rich and (somehow) suspected of a crime, you can buy your freedom.
