$7.25/hr in my home state in the south. I looked at houses in my little college hometown and it's $200k-$300k for anything halfway decent. I sold my house there for $85k in late 2016 for perspective. Rents are more than double what they were. I realize even the new prices sound cheap as fuck, but there are very few jobs that pay that kind of money down there outside of O&G work, both of which are feast or famine.

Excellent to know - thank you! I'll absolutely be digging into candidates.

We'd moved up to Boston a few years ago for my spouse's job, but we'll be priced out entirely once our lease is up in the summer. Loved Philadelphia (felt so much like home in N.O.), though, so it seems like a quick bounce a few hours south. These weekly moving threads are so helpful.

Thanks so much for posting that link. I've been trying to parse neighborhood crime information and never came across this map. A similar map was absolutely vital for us when we were figuring out where to buy back when we still lived in New Orleans, so this is hugely helpful! <3

Check Slickdeals to see if there are any fare sales first. Acela is definitely more comfortable but probably not worth the extra cost. Don't bank on not being delayed though. About half of the train rides we've taken from Moynihan were delayed, one as much as a few hours. 🤷‍♀️

There's all the ones mentioned in Salem, as well as Bedlam in Providence. I didn't like the owner, but he does have a nice selection if you happen to drive through that area.

Hopefully you make some headway with Atrius. They partner with Beth Israel when need be and I was able to get in relatively quickly (2 weeks) recently for another cancer scare.

I saw you mention trying Tufts. Spouse and I both initially went there because it was the only hospital system we could get into with any expediency, BUT they have dropped the ball so many times leaving us without care. Both of us have had appointments (spouse for a somewhat intensive procedure) made and then...nothing. We disappeared off their schedules. I've heard several others have similar experience, and several ex-staff told me it was not particularly uncommon at Tufts. Just our experiences, though.

We moved from another region and have been unhappy with medical services and wait times as well. I swapped over to Atrius for all but one of my needs (hair loss specialist) and it's been a vastly better experience than dealing directly with the large hospital systems.

Kanes is my personal favorite. Their honey dip, coconut crunch, and coffee roll are my go-to's but they rotate monthly specials that are fun too.

It's kind of my stand in for Shipley's (am a southern transplant).
