I’d say that being an avid reader since childhood has helped my career in a few ways.
I read faster than I would have otherwise. If I need to go over a 10-page contract, I can do it faster than if I had grown up not reading books.
My reading comprehension is better than it would otherwise be. This means I need to refer back to that contract less than I otherwise would have, and I understand it better.
Reading makes me a better writer. I have a larger vocabulary, I understand grammar intuitively.
I am more generally knowledgeable than I would otherwise be. A broader knowledge base helps me grasp new ideas more quickly, evaluate new information against what I already know. It’s easier to find connections with and relate to people that I work with, around, and for.
