You can buy lithium AA and AAA cells from Energizer.

Yep, it is called a Combined-Cycle plant.

How else do you plan to extinguish it? A regular ABC fire extinguisher is not very effective on lithium battery fires, and they can be quite persistent. That's why fire departments often use thousands of gallons of water on an EV battery fire.

The general procedure for most lithium battery fires is to submerge them in water, believe it or not.

That was on the 777, this was a 737. And supposedly the aircraft automatically performs the pre-flight check and the FAA signed off on their checklist that omitted it.

Until 2020 savings accounts in the US were limited to 6 or fewer transactions per month. So debit cards would never have been tied to them for payment.

True turbojet engines don't have any bypass ratio at all. Even a low-bypass jet engine is still a turbofan engine, not a true turbojet.

Some Drano products still contain sodium hydroxide (Hair buster gel, for one). The sodium hydroxide/lye products do a fantastic job of clearing hair clogs, since they dissolve protein and oils.

Yep. The tradeoff is that digital crime has increased significantly, since your money can now be stolen by people anywhere in the world.

That is actually also true. The number of muggings in the US is down significantly since most people don't carry a lot of cash anymore.

I often do forget about debit cards, since I don't have one. But still those and credit cards are often safer for merchants than cash.

The tradeoff is that having significant amounts of cash makes you a target for robbers, and you have to count the money and take it to a bank for deposit.

Reply to comment by crookedriverguy in ELI5 why do electric vehicles have one big battery that's hard to replace once it's expired, rather than lots of smaller ones that could be swapped out based on need (to trade off range/power/weight)? by ginonofalg
A company called Better Place tried that in Israel. It did not work well. Also, DC Fast charging can work on any EV, while a battery swap will only work on one specific brand of vehicle. Imagine if a Ford could only be refueled at a Ford gas station.

In the US most clothes dryers (old and new) use an electric heating element and vent to outdoors. Just like the one pictured in this post.

A condenser dryer is a vastly different thing from a standard clothes dryer. Generating heat from electricity is already 100% efficient, so unless you are adding a heat pump feature or a more accurate moisture sensor to end the cycle early the old ones are just as efficient as new.

It isn't a worldwide law, but it is a US law. And since a significant percentage of e-mail users are based in the US it would be foolish for a company to risk violating that law.
