This is very similar to the comment I was about to write. In many of the larger towns in NH, the streets were laid out before cars were widespread, so they're pretty walkable. Also would be helpful to have a bike, which in the winter would probably need studded fat tires to be very viable.
I second Lebanon-Hanover-WRJ as another option, tho housing costs there are very expensive compared to most of NH

Yeah the major downside is that local transit does not currently run on weekends. But the bus service to Boston & NYC is pretty nice!

These are the legit options. I drove 102 for the first time last month and was impressed! I want to drive Rte 26 this summer and VT 9 is also another gorgeous mountainous drive

Sure but unlike in VT, villages in NH are not incorporated as legal entities and have no power. So Colebrook could have a law on this but Kidder ville specifically could not

Yep! If you're not a subsistence farmer you need at least a grocery store near you. Single use zoning is far more uncommon than I wish it was in NH

Yeah, I mean at some point you reach the situation where there are no jobs anywhere near a town, so then no working people want to move there. Like a long of socio economic phenomenons, it's a vicious cycle!

I mean when referencing "things to do" and denser housing, historically that's how NH been. It's really only been the past 60 years that housing has been so far from jobs and you need a car to get around.
But as a young person I guess I'm proving your point...

Ridiculous! Especially because the disc golf isn't harming them! I would be more sympathic if it was a cold fired powered plant or motorcycles at 2am but disc golf is so unintrusive AFAIK

Most smaller towns do not maintain most class 4s in winter. Or maybe that's just in NEK...

Insurance is better but medical services are very sparse/inadequate. It might be cheaper than other states but the wait time might be awhile/you might have trouble finding someone accepting new patients (especially for mental health providers)

Nah Trash and recycling is included in the rent for my places, so I basically hoard the Compost and drop it off monthly. I think composting is an actually helpful thing for the environment (recycling... IDK) , isn't too much of a hassle, and think in VT theres a decent number of places that make it easy ish. Still, not gonna shame anyone who doesn't
