I'm a professional in my 30s and carry a backpack with me. I work out of bars and coffee shops all over New Haven and near Yale.

You are bettering yourself and your life. Always wear that proudly.

And if it helps, I went back to college at 26 and was in classes with ACTUAL children lol Not just young, like 17, not yet an adult haha. You're not encroaching. That spaces is just as much yours as anyone else's. Own it. And good on you for the growth.

Avg. rent in New Haven is about $1600ish. You can find co-living spaces for about $1100 where you share a space with others like a dorm.

Definitely going to need roommates if that’s your price point. I was paying $1100 before I moved to CT. Now I’m at $1500. My search started at 1200 and reluctantly increased.

Also, don’t rent from Mandy Management.

They have a pretty expansive menu of flavor profile/options. They also rotate specials every month and they let each store come up with the theme on a rotating basis. So last month was Lord of the Rings, this month it's Simpsons, I think, they're gonna do Harry Potter soon, etc... and the drinks are super fun and varied.

I had a great latte with elderflower there last month.
