Snow Crash is simultaneously one of the funniest and and most interesting SF books I've ever read. I am still trying to wrap my head around how it manages to be both hilarious and have such big (and fun) ideas about tech, the future, religion, and language. Check it out if you haven't read it yet! Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler is probably the most real-feeling dystopia I've ever read. As an example of how accurately it portrays societal movements - in the sequel (written in 1998) there is a Christian nationalist presidential candidate in the US. Wanna guess his election motto?
