It’s a petty comment but I find it arrogant to assume Americans “use” all land in some way. There are vast areas of forests, deserts, etc that just exist without being exploited somehow by humans.

It interesting how we think we are so much more advanced than previous generations. Engineers and contractors designed and built the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge from scratch in three years in the 1930s. No computers, just slide rules. When they needed to replace 1/2 of it in the 2000s it took 9 years and went 2500% over budget.

They would also ferry servicemen to different bases. These women wanted to serve the war effort but they weren’t allowed in combat so they formed the WASP service and had them fly around the states.
