From what I’ve gathered out here, landlords have a very “if you don’t like it, leave” mentality. Although they SHOULD address these issues, unless someone makes a stink, they’re not doing anything about it.

No, not there but interested in your experience with a point system. Is this regardless if you have sick time? He had never called out before so he should have had plenty of sick time. The point system is something I’ve never heard of before.

No one got fired yet, just took a sick day and was informed of this policy. It for sure doesn’t seem legal but I wanted to see since we’re new to the area.

They really are! I haven’t been affected yet but I’m sure it’s only a matter of time.

I found a complete telehealth behavioral health resource through my insurance company website. It includes psychiatry, therapy and neurological testing. I suggest checking there first, if you haven’t already.

Otherwise, Psychology Today is a great resource that will mention if the dr is taking new patients, insurance types, and if they work on a sliding scale.

For YEARS I paid out of pocket for therapy/med management because the options through my insurance were such shit. Drs know this, and will often work on a sliding scale to help out when paying out of pocket. I had one dr that would literally tell me to keep my money for the next appointment. There are drs who just want to help.

Agree with all of this. It’s a place like any other. It’s not especially cute or desirable but it’s a place to live that’s not going to break the bank.

I agree entirely. But unless there’s a specific law against it, and a tenant agrees, it’s fair game. Awful tenant rights in this state.

Ohhh I thought we were speaking on pet rent. And also about rent, yes they can. I have spoken with a lawyer about the rent. And it’s in the landlord tenant handbook.

Rhode Island landlords can charge whatever rent for whatever reason. They can also raise the rent upon renewal to any amount for any reason. Pets fall under “any reason”.

Dang. Like everyone said, lawyer. None of that sounds right (except pet fees, I think that is legal). I know you gave the money willingly but I would still reach out to your bank as well. Maybe there’s something they can do.

Haha I agree so much! If it’s anything, the ladies in the titles dept at the Cranston DMV are SO NICE and knowledgeable!

This isn’t fun necessarily, but they have a free farmers market for URI students on Thursdays where they hand out veggies the Ag department grew/harvested. (Going to be ending soon so for sure swing by for some free veggies!)

In a perfect world, the bank would just send it to the DMV but since we live here I would request a copy be emailed or faxed to you. Your bank will be super helpful getting you what you need.

Edit: I’m not sure about residency but I think if you just switch a cell phone bill to a friend or families address that will work fine (they may require two pieces I can’t remember)
