But the fact of the matter is does it constitute a betrayal of public interest with regards to anti-trust laws? You're talking about one company taking over one other company in a highly competitive business environment. This doesn't constitute illegal antitrust, not under the current laws.

I mean, I've been subbed to Futurology since pretty much the beginning. I never post, very rarely comment, and most of the posts are fantastical ideas with no ability to be put into any sort of mass production or provide anything for society. I wouldn't say this is a new problem, it's just a side effect of AskScience and other science subs being very heavily moderated and tightly controlled. This is just a loosely controlled sub, which fills a niche in Reddit.
Like you though, I usually find most posts here to be an extension of ShowerThoughts, but with a science vibe to them.
