really? been in there a ton (I work nearby) & never saw any of that. good to know.

wish lipgloss crisis was still around, or at least that someone would sell their old collapsed coliseum graphic shirt. that was some real new haven shit

i do really cringe whenever this topic comes up simply because it CAN get very racist very fast, but the fact of the matter is that this is a thing that is happening. it's not about "chinese people", it's about a very specific thing that is happening within a very specific class group coming to US colleges from a very specific country.

my family & i used to volunteer at soup kitchens on thanksgiving, it's an old tradition that's fallen by the wayside; i'm thinking about reinstating it next year. it could be tough work but it was really pretty nice.

alright, reading your comment more carefully - i think you're getting downvoted because people (including myself) have interpreted this as pedantry about subreddit rules in a potential crisis situation, but am i right in thinking that you're actually just encouraging this person to post there? the way you've worded it seems a bit like a scold at first glance, ftr.

the parking is the big thing here, i'm pretty sure, so that's a big relief. it might get a little inconvenient here & there but if you've already got your vendors & venue booked & that venue has a place for people to park their cars, you've circumvented the worst challenges this might present. no massive disaster.

just don't count on finding many hotel rooms available in the area & stress to any guests that might need them that they absolutely should book theirs, like, NOW.

i am so sorry to report this, but as a longtime new haven resident i gotta tell you, it... it might be kind of bad. does the venue have its own parking facility? is there no way you can reschedule this far out?

do you have a photo of this person? maybe some of us in the area could post it to facebook. i realize posting someone's photo without their permission on reddit is A Whole Thing, but it could also be a major help in locating the guy, so i'm torn. what does everyone else think about this?

neverending books in east rock is a free bookshop. all donation based. hours are a little spotty because it’s volunteer/collectively run, but it’s almost always open after about 5:30 on weekdays.
