Reply to This “Climate-Friendly” Fuel Comes With an Astronomical Cancer Risk: Almost half of products cleared so far under the new federal biofuels program are not in fact biofuels — and the EPA acknowledges that the plastic-based ones may present an “unreasonable risk” to human health or the environment. by nastratin
You know we used to put lead into gasoline to make it more efficient. We stopped doing that because we found that it was a bad idea. Why can't we as a species just learn to not poison ourselves?

Yes, but what if you need to skim through dozens of papers to find what you need?

I have noticed that certain people's oils tend to be more corrosive than others. One of our coworkers has this and his VR headsets foam always seems to dissolved away while mine and others are fine for years.

The best way to think about thermal cameras is to think about cameras.
Imagine you are trying to measure how hot something is by how much it's glowing. For example you go to resistive coils and see how bright they get. You can get a decent measurement just by seeing how bright it gets. Now try to measure a mirror reflecting an image of the coils. You'll get a very similar measurement. Is this because the mirror is just as hot? No, you are mostly measuring the reflected image of the coils and not the mirror itself.
It's the same thing with thermal cameras. Metal is very reflective at the wavelengths used to measure thermal radiation. You are essentially looking at a mirror and will not get accurate readings from it in much the same way.

It's all over the place really. Ask once, it'll flat out refuse. Sometimes just pressing the refresh button changes it's mind.

I am too TBH. Especially if you consider how only the wealthy have political influence and popular opinion essentially has no influence. That said, I do think it's important that it becomes a subject. No one will do anything if they are unaware.

Keep up with impending technologies to stay relvent and advocate for stronger social systems so jobs aren't strictly needed to live.
Trying to stop this tech from taking over is a waste of time. A better use of time is to try to fix actual systematic issues which are the root cause of the panic.

We have been preparing people for the day when an AI is able to do your job for at least 5 years now. Now that it's starting to happen, people are freaking out. People don't listen to warnings.

So a computer that's smarter than humans doesn't deserve rights because it has an off switch?

Digital hasn't reached it's limit's and there's no proof of what you're claiming.
Analog computers are VERY old & we are bringing them back.
