Moose are likely doomed south of the Canadian border, the deer population is going to explode. The next tick transmitted disease is likely to be pretty nasty. The maple syrup industry is likely doomed but small-batch production will probably be viable and and you can harvest sap year-round from other species of tree. Lobsters are moving out but blue crabs are moving in. We are going to have a lot of opportunities for sustainable farming because the growing season is going to get a lot longer.

The key word in "climate change" is change. The only thing we can do is try to make what it is going to change into not suck.

Costco and Whole Foods use rotisserie chickens as loss leaders. Meaning, at five bucks they are either barely breaking even or losing money on that item but you will likely buy something they will make money on while you are there grabbing a cheap chicken. The 10 bucks Hannaford is charging is probably actual cost +20% markup.

That's not how it works.

Glass and metal, it doesn't matter how dirty it is, it gets ground to pieces and melted.

Plastic recycling is complicated, but how dirty the plastic is has no bearing on whether it will be recycled or not.

The only item it does matter for is paper. One greasy pizza box will ruin a ton of cardboard and make it useless. Oil and grease is very hard to separate from paper pulp.

I've done a lot of distance learning courses in the UMaine system and they are pretty good. Most of the professors had the technology figured out 10 years ago, and the ones who didn't have a pretty good support system. The classes are a manageable size, the largest I was in was ~30 people and the smallest ~8. Overall it's a good system to do an online degree in.

There isn't much to see if you visit, as others have said it is a very rural place.

when I worked there a couple decades ago Beans was actually a mini-sort facility for either UPS or FEDex. They would sort for and fill air freight containers that went straight to Portland and onto a plane. I don't know if they still do that for express shipping or not.

Chelmsford is the most convenient nearby spot to access rail freight so it is probably way more efficient from a resource perspective to sort and ship everything by rail from there.
