By shackling my hair to the sculpture I am both physically and metaphorically attaching myself. It is strategically placed in the most circular part of the form as a reference to circles and their infinity. The part placed in front leads the eye to the highest point of the sculpture which drops down to the chain and hair.
The concept of memory is the main discussion the sculpture creates. My hair is used to create a level of weight and depth to juxtapose the changing organic forms. Even though the forms will change the hair will still remain shackled to the work. It represents the sacrifices I have made in order for me to be where I am, leaving my home and everything I know behind to pursue art.
