"Ma'am" is a form of address generally reserved for females.

I thought we were ignoring how words are generally used when asked too if it doesn't hurt anyone? Are we not doing that?

>when not being used sarcastically

Ah, so you are applying a 'genuineness' filter to the requests. And if you decide, based on whatever, that they're not genuine, you can just ignore them?

Can I do that? Can a teacher do that? Or only you can do that?

Who is hurt if you call someone who isn't royalty 'your majesty'?

> demanding to be treated as royalty,

He didn't say that. You're straw-manning.

He only asked to be referred to as 'Your Majesty' not for anyone to have to serve him peeled grapes on a platter or whatever.

It's a simple change of the way you refer to him, nothing more.

But you TOOK it as a request for something more. Maybe you should be wondering if the people who have a knee-jerk reaction to neopronouns are taking it as a request for something more than just a change in how they're addressed.

> I'm surrounded by Trump signs, MAGA, et. al. If anyone was taking them out, I have a better-than-average seat to witness it. Is it impossible?

I'm sorry, was anyone in this conversation under the impression that there are bands of ideologues all over the country trawling every backwoods road for political signs they don't like, like some kind of overly complex google street view operation?

This headline is about 100 signs. Not millions. The cases I saw were one-off events and the cases everyone is talking about in this thread are one-off events. If 100 people in PA got mugged in broad daylight, would you expect to have personally witnessed one?

I've got a very small spattering of Dem signs around where I live and they're fine too.

On the other hand I went on vacation to Holden Beach NC this year and saw a big trump sign that was all smashed up and vandalized. So there's that, if all you accept is personal anecdotes and headlines you agree with, that is.

>But you don't see them doing this shit,

No. YOU don't see them doing this shit. Because your echochamber would rather show you what you see here.

My echochamber showed me video after video of people trying to yank trump signs out of yards that had been booby trapped with electric fencing.

But at least I wasn't dumb enough to think I was seeing an unbiased sample... What's wrong with you?

>Are you saying you’ve seen video of Epps inside the Capitol? If that’s what you’re saying, I’m calling you a liar.

Really weird to first put words in someone's mouth and them call them a liar for it in the same breath.

Usually your kind is a bit more patient I'm between building the strawman and knocking it down.

>“Just report,” said Williams, now executive director of the Philadelphia Children’s Alliance, which supports victims of child sexual abuse. “If you are not sure, report and let the professional screen that out. Don’t try to become a social worker.”

Sounds like: "Just call the cops, if you are not sure, call 911 and let the professional screen that out. Don't try to become law enforcement."

It's tone-deaf and ignores the fact that the person you're calling in might not be a 'professional' by any stretch of the imagination and often ends up causing more harm than not being involved.

Don't call the cops on anyone you wouldn't want to see laying dead in the street at the hands of a low IQ maniac with a gun.

Likewise don't call CPS on anyone you don't want harassed or having their kids taken away by "just doing my job" social workers.

If you're okay with those outcomes, by all means, report whatever.

Indeed.
Personally, I'm glad that both major candidates for PA governor this year are reportedly capable of reading.

And while that's absolutely fantastic. Really, great job everyone on voting this year!
But I'm just thinking we could go a bit further and maybe have some additional standards outside of literacy.
