Former Automotive engineer. This just isn’t true. Recalls are triggered by the government in many cases. I once had my personal car’s sun visor recalled because when any fault is present in over X amount of vehicles it triggers a mandatory recall. Similarly, they must recall anything overtly dangerous if im recalling my experience with Fiat-Chrysler’s law department correctly.

Ps. This system was also Tesla’s saving grace because they were so low volume for so long. Now, not so much.

It was claimed by Ukrainian intelligence so either that or someone sympathetic to the cause of the Ukrainians just went ahead and told them. You know. Like a spy would.
