Longer- None! One mark of a good book is that it's just as long as it needs to be.
Shorter - ohhhhhhh.... tons.

Good. Because I strongly believe reading what you want is the way to being a lifelong reader. That may take you through various genres. Maybe try to find out what your favorite authors consider great reads.

Reply to Do you read more than one book at a time? by Gerbilll
It varies. Sometimes I can't even find one book I want to read. Then a dozen seem to land in my lap at once that I can't wait to read.
Right now I'm reading five. I think. One on the gym treadmill and four at home. Three are tree books and Three are ebooks. So six. I think.

With all due respect, it sounds like you just need to read, like you've read enough lists already.

I found this a very inspiring and honest record of Tolstoy's experience.

You don't have to appreciate something you dislike. Maybe later in life you'll look back on your own old favorites and find yourself surprised that there are objectionable passages waiting for you.
That happened to me and it gave me some perspective on how completely many of us are steeped in our contemporary society. And then you start to see and appreciate those early visionaries who realized that no, everything wasn't ok. The world needs changing. In ways we never even thought of.
To me that's just one of the important perspectives that reading both old and new literature can give a person.

Good observation. I would say that the multiple choice pick a number type of technical support is almost over and it will be a relief when it's gone forever.
