Sending author's fan mail is definitely a thing. Check their social media and see what they use most. Whether it's email or social media.

I remember Brandon Sanderson wrote a lovely blog post I guess about Robert Jordan's passing. Jordan's wife Harriet happened to read it and put Sanderson on a very short list of authors to finish the Wheel of Time series. Finishing the WOT is how I found out about Sanderson.

I think the actual mass of Mars may have something to do with the lack of a magnetosphere. The core of the Earth is very likely radioactive which would keep it nice and warm liquifying the inner layers of the planet. The liquidation plays into the creation of the magnetosphere. I also think that the Earth is massive enough to put additional heat and pressure on the inner layers of our planet.

Mars has some radioactive processes keeping the core warm but not liquifying the core. It's hot enough for volcanoes but not hot enough for plate tectonics.

My idea is that if we could increase the mass of Mars we might be able to put enough pressure on the core to liquify the inside of Mars. Maybe using an orbital ring to drop chunks of asteroids or comets onto the surface would work. Do this correctly and we could spend up the spin of the planet. This way it's day would more closely match Earth's.

The Forever War explored some of this topic. Humanity kept progressing, changing, evolving all the while humanity pursued a war without end. The main character gets to see all of it unfold and take part in some of the changes. Humanity goes from homophobic to openly accepting of alternate lifestyles to cloning. The story connected with me in part because I am a soldier who lived through a good chunk of the global wear on terrorism.

Just looked it up and you're right. It was 0.02 seconds. 748 days aboard Mir over several missions. https://www.amnh.org/exhibitions/einstein/time/time-travel#:~:text=Cosmonaut%20Sergei%20Avdeyev%20spent%20a,he%20never%20traveled%20in%20space.

There is also a YouTube video about it on the "Half As Interesting" channel.

There is a Russian cosmonaut who got stuck up in one of the space stations for a really long time. I believe it was Mir. Russia was having some difficulties at the time and they couldn't send up a replacement for him. He experienced something like 0.18 second of time dilation by being up there for so long. He is credited with having time traveled and holds a world record for it.

My wife introduced me to restaurant supply stores. Back in North Carolina they had no problem selling to us individuals. We use cutting mats instead of cutting boards in our home. The ones we found at the restaurant supply store have lasted longer than the ones we had purchased from Walmart.
