Here's an analogy that's going to fall down if you think about it too much, but it's still valid.
Consider the universe as the surface of a spherical balloon. Don't consider the void in the centre, just the surface. As the balloon expands all parts of the surface move away from you in all directions. The universe expands. If you were to measure the circumference of the balloon and you knew the starting size and the rate of expansion then you'd know the age.
You could do this from any point on the balloon.

Reply to comment by JetAmoeba in Scientists have proved goldfish do have good memories and are able to navigate their surroundings. A team from Oxford University trained nine fish to travel 70cm (2.3ft) and back, receiving a food reward at the end. The study disproves the long-held belief goldfish have little or no memory. by Tardigradelegs
I have a colour changing light in my tank that moves between blues and greens, but at 5pm the tank goes red telling me to feed the fish. When the tank goes red the fish get agitated and hang about in the feeding corner.

Reply to I knew labs shed their winter coat, but WOW by sev092
I used to have a mixed blue heeler husky. When he shed it was a nightmare of fur. I was complaining to a friend about it and they said they completely understood because their cat was malting as well. I bent over and grabbed a handful of fur from my dogs chest. I held it up and asked "Would your cat be about this big?"
