I would have said Dead Space a couple of years ago, but we've been in a Dead Space Renaissance and I love it.

I've been thinking about playing this due to loving Control. I've only heard not great things about it though. Is it worth a shot?

Probably Ancient Evil from Chicory is a banger.

2017 was crazy. It's very recent so you cant look back to it and go wow look at those classics. But the sheer quantity of quality games is unrivaled.
RE 7, Nioh, Horizen zero dawn, nier automata, destiny 2, prey, injustice 2, assassin creed origins, uncharted lost legacy, wolfenstein 2, sonic mania, evil within 2, cuphead, Zelda BotW, little nightmares, Hellblade, Samus returns, Mario Odyssey, what remains of Edith finch, for honor, divinity original sin 2, a hat in time, total war Warhammer 2, Xcom 2: War of the chosen DLC, crash bandicoot trilogy, sniper elite 4, Dishonored death of the outsider, xenoblade chronicles 2.
How do you even compete with this many quality games?

Got it on the steam sale myself. Not much of an open world gamer, but giant robo dino fights are hard to say no to. Naturally I bought like 20 other games for $3 a game so who knows when I'll actually get around to playing it.

That's pretty high praise, and I'm all about linear gameplay. Open worlds are not my jam. I'll have to give this one a look.
