When looking at housing prices, you should also watch RE tax rates. They can vary widely town to town. And, where NH has no income tax (only interest and dividends) and no sales tax, the majority of funding comes from RE taxes. I believe this is the most recent available town by town: https://www.revenue.nh.gov/mun-prop/municipal/documents/21-tax-rates.pdf

Last I checked, 4% increase on a 5% tax is an 80% increase.

Don’t forget about the MA estate tax. Highest in the country. People are already leaving the state to avoid this - those most impacted by this already have residences in other states that have lower or no estate tax. Q1 is just one more reason to leave, but it is already happening.

Not allowed under the current constitution. Not allowed to tax the same class of income at different rates for different people, so the rebates have to happen proportionally based on how much each taxpayer actually paid.

I don’t think the time and a half pay was to get people to work. When retail “fought” for the right to open on Sundays (it used to be forbidden), the time and a half was what they had to agree to. It was all part of the MA BLUE LAWS.
