Total comp would have employers adding in everything possible like the PTO hours, insurance benefits, commuter transit benefits, holidays, the cookies they bring into the office once a month, etc. There's lot more room for loopholes if it's total comp vs. just simply the yearly base salary.

Beyond giving less loopholes I would personally prefer to quickly see salary up front in the job listing and then look more in depth at total comp once I actually had the offer.

People in fields where the yearly bonus is huge compared to the base salary may feel differently but this law should cut through a lot of bullshit in fields not like that.

In addition to running through tunnels or on viaducts lights rails like the proposed red line can run on the street where needed. They do not require demolishing entire neighborhoods like large freeways and interchanges do.

The reason the Red Line doesn’t exist is because Hogan cancelled it in 2015 to shift funding to suburban roads.

If the city is willing to play hard ball with MSG and not renew its permit then we can talk about making Penn Station nice.

If not there’s an arena in the way and at best the city will spend a lot working around the edges of it trying to make the space above the outer edges of the platforms nice.

(And now that Moynihan is built one possible place for a new arena is gone and MSG is even less likely to ever move)
