All your issues with Eleanor are resolved in the final chapter. If you don't want to reach the end of the journey that's fine tho. There is real joy at her redemption. Find out a bit odd you complain about her being boring and mundane because that's precisely the point, she is, but through unexpected friendships this changes too.

Well, The Green Mile is more fantasy than horror. It's a wonderful book though. Ienvy you being able to read it for the first time. For straight out horror go to King's earlier works like Carrie, Salems' Lot, The Shining and Christine. All relatively short works for King but he packs in the punches.

Yes, you're right but read Puddenhead Wilson and you'll see why it's so relevant to this story.

Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler. Frighteningly prescient.

Isn't it on a lot of banned book lists in the US now? The rationale being used that is too upsetting! That. Is. The. Whole. Sodding. Point.

Went in cold to both Maze Runner and Percy Jackson. Never having read the source material I thougt they were both decent films. I know PJ fans will murder me for this opinion.
The Godfather is a far better as a film too. The book is OK but Coppola brings it alive in so many ways.

Give {{Boy's Life by Robert McCammon}} a go. Similar elegiac feel, of long ago summers and a boy trying to find his way in a small Alabama town, to it.
