Don't get me wrong. Learning outside of your work is enriching and may even help your main work. The problem is when you digress from the work you actually need to get done and do something productive but not yet relevant on the side. It fools you because you think you're doing work when really you have more urgent work piling up. Read the linked article talking about Q3.

I also like the concept of fear times confidence/ability equalling bravery. A brave person is fearful but is capable of overcoming the fear all the same. Meanwhile, an imbalance of these two creates these distortions:
- too much fear with too little confidence = coward
- too much fear with too much confidence = extremely anxious but using excessive force as a coping mechanism
- too little fear with too little confidence = depressed and hopeless
- too little fear with too much confidence = reckless
