Yep, the groups lobbing against it are right wing Christian groups that literally qualified cosmopolitan magazine as porn and tried to shut it down.
Yeah, porn sites have too much leeway that allows for people with bad intentions to easily get around their checks. But mind geek has been at the forefront of solving that issue by requiring ID from all uploaders,, deleting 10 million non verified videos and making sure their staff at all levels are close to equal male:female ratio.
Porn will always be around, get rid of the top company doing at least a decent job preventing exploitation and you're just giving the unethical fringe sites more customers.

Thanks for the correction- I was Def thinking of the wrong incident but point still stands that there is nothing suggesting it was a hobbyist balloon. The military doesn't shoot down things without clear indication it needs to be taken down

It's been pointed out a few times I sounded harsh in my original comment- wasn't my intention or even my mindset. Just wanted to correct misinformation which I still think your comment encourages until you provide some credible source that backs it. But I apologize if I sounded harsh and appreciate getting it pointed out so I can be more careful when replying. Again, if you got any source on it being a"hobbyist" balloon I'd love to read into it, and I did not mean to come off demeaning or rude.

Yeah I don't think I worded that quite right- more that as the boss you assume responsibility for any failings within your sphere of influence- which does include behavior of employees, safety issues etc.
But I see what you mean in my wording, there can Def be things outside your control no matter what- which is why these things are deeply investigated by governing bodies. But any finding that finds a failure in procedures etc is the responsibility of the boss.
Like if lightning strikes someone at an outdoor festival it shouldn't be blamed of the organizer of that festival. But if there's multiple overdoses, criminal acts etc- then yeah- that's within their sphere of influence from a procedural standpoint, and they need to be held accountable for failure to put safety over profits.
Don't know if that makes more sense on my viewpoint, but thanks for correcting me. I do see how I worded that wrong originally, and I appreciated that being pointed out to me

Inform myself, with both you and op's super sources? Not throwing a fit, but a ridiculous take is a ridiculous take and allowing blind misinformation to just be is detrimental to everyone. Now if you got something to suggest comment is correct, more than willing to read into it but what we know is that 1) China c knowledge it was theirs 2) they were mad US shot it down 3) several others have been found 4) they were specifically flying over military sites 5) the US felt it enough of a threat to shoot it down
What a i missing? Seriously, if you got any legit source that still claims it's a hobbyist balloon I'd love to read into it. Otherwise just spewing what you think is harmful. There's no "alternative facts" in the real-world.

If you're the boss, you assume responsibility with the benefits. If you're underfunded and find it a dangerous environment- you either leave or cut into areas not related to safety to ensure safety is top priority over any results. No matter the budget- the big boss is always responsible for workers safety, that's the privilege and downside of that salary.
There is no excusable scenario. Not saying he deserved to die- absolutely not- no one does. But he seemed much more in tune with his responsibility as a boss than you see. I've run several enterprises and also not sure I could live with myself if anyone died due to the negligence of my business- whether staff/customer/passerby. It doesn't matter, I'm paid to make things run in a safe and responsible environment and the only person keeping me accountable is karma/life. If I slack or fuck up- I'm not getting suspended- I'm criminally responsible and that's partly why I'm paid what i am paid.

You're getting down voted but you're not wrong. There were/are Americans that have been jailed for way longer and more ridiculous charges that still can't get out- the US just indicated if Russian bots make enough noise about any jailed American, they can get a lot back in return. No, she didn't deserve that sentence, but she DID do something illegal according to the laws of that country and there is no excuse for bringing any amount of drugs into a foreign country. The cost/benefit of sending back an arms dealer for a drug offender is mind-blowing and now Russia will be arresting any US passport holder for leverage knowing they can get some sweet trades. It was a terrible precedent.
No US citizen should be going anywhere near Russia atm, at this point its kind of on you if you take that chance.
