The average American needs to be staying out of debt much more than they are. I recognize that many people can’t avoid it, but I do see tons of folks still buying way more vehicle than they need (“well I got approved for the loan so it must be ok”) or funding their lifestyle with credit cards and letting the balance build.
That stuff works ok when you have a steady income but it makes for a world of hurt if that income gets interrupted.

At which point, wouldn’t it be easy for them to verify without having to go through the legal process?

Except the concern was, the campaign was using it - not just a single instance in a single venue. Can the campaign purchase an ASCAP license, and did they? Or is the assertion here that any venue which played the song had their own ASCAP and the complaint filed by Petty’s estate is not going to hold up?

Sure, I see “unlicensed” was the wrong word. What’s the correct term for “contacted the artist/estate/intellectual property owner and got permission to play the song?”

For what it’s worth, I don’t mind the repost, I’m just sad that politicians keep using unlicensed music, and strangely predictably enough it always seems to be from that side of the aisle.
Edit - the trolls have kindly/rudely pointed out, I should use the term “allegedly unlicensed”

I would argue that San Francisco is the tech equivalent of those finance companies in the original comment - it’s just concentrating the wealth from the surrounding areas (or now, worldwide) into a few square miles of SoCal.

Yeah, I guess no so much “fun” as “soul crushingly depressing because of how many lives were lost for pure greed.”
imakenosensetopeople t1_itivztt wrote
Fun historical fact - the potato famine was less a result of not enough potatoes, and more so a function of Irish farmers being forced to use their crop to effectively pay rent, instead of being able to feed themselves.

Yep.
I wish we could start to tackle the non-flight times associated with flying instead. Boarding/de boarding, sitting on the tarmac, having to show up 2 hours early, etc. To take a 45 minute flight, it’s four hours from when I enter one airport and leave the other airport.
