That's a bummer. My TBs have been going strong for close to 10 years, although I don't use them too frequently. They're nice to have when my family is asleep or doesn't want to listen to my games.

They do, but I want to avoid buying 2 headsets. My old Turtle Beach handles either console specifically because of the combination optical input and wired mic connection. It's too bad that manufacturers aren't doing this anymore and essentially forcing people to get a headset for each console.

As far as I know the Kaira doesn't have a base station (no optical input), and is console-specific, so that won't work. Does the base for the Thresher have multiple optical inputs or just the one? Is the voice chat function wireless or does/can it connect to a controller with a cable? Like I mentioned, I want to be able to use one headset with both consoles and it seems that wireless voice chat connectivity differences between them is what limits manufacturers to making one headset for each console. Hence why I'm willing to compromise by using a cable if it means I don't have to buy 2 headsets.

I ended up going with the Steelseries Arctis Nova 7x. There's no optical input but it's not needed since everything is handled by the USB dongle that comes with it. Very happy with it so far.
