Reply to If you could buy a property solely for deer hunting and outdoor recreation in Maine, in what regions/areas of the state would you look? (Asking for a friend) by bubba1819
I have trail cam footage of herds of 40 plus crossing Lemon stream on several occasions. So that would be the woods Northeast of Farmington. Curious though, why a group of hunters from Maine would need to know where the deer are.

I would be more concerned with what is there to live in? A house? A camp? You plan on building without a driveway/access.? If there is no exiting structure that's ready to live in you are going to need excavating and some deep pockets. Or I guess you could homestead in a tent. Best of success.

I have never heard of this and lived in quite a few states. Did I read correct that you deliver food when on vacation? Interesting.

Exactly. We recently sold our place in the woods, realtor said top dollar would be 275k, we told him to list at 299k. Sold for 299k.

I'll look through a few, pick a couple and try to photograph or scan them and PM them to you over the next few days. Great post by the way.

What area are you in? I have a few cookbooks from 1895 on. Or what type of meal and I will pick one?? I always loved Sunday baked beans in a real bean crock, in a wood stove.

I feel your pain brother. Physical therapy/exercise, diet, and or change careers and I hate to say it but it only gets worse. I started working on cars for money at 14 and made it to 59.

As a retired mechanic I will add just one part of the equation. How trades affect your body physically. A lot of times you have to work in less than optimal weather conditions. Breathe crap, Stand/sit and use limbs in awkward positions for extended periods of time. It takes a toll. I am not minimizing teaching, just saying what I never realized about my profession.

If you have the room do yourself a favor and buy ahead. I like to season my wood 2 years. Burns so much better. If you have an airtight stove it is a must, in my opinion.
